Cooper Handling Solutions Ltd, the after sales division of Cooper Group Holdings Ltd is announcing a huge re-investment in its business activities to change the way it handles spare parts in order to provide spare parts 24hrs per day, 7-days per week on a standard next-day or even same-day express delivery service.
With the increase in globalisation over the past 20 years and the ease with which to move packages inside Europe overnight for next-day delivery, this has been the industry model and one which Coopers, until now, had adopted. However, given huge pressures on these front-line machines, Coopers have identified next day is sometimes too long which acts as a prompt for this new initiative.
This will involve a significant investment in stock of spare parts, first for the Mantsinen and Sany product ranges with a view to expand to all supply partners once the system is up and running. This will involve a new and separate site in Honiley, Warwickshire where Coopers are based, and this new initiative is being branded “The Hub”. All spare parts, regardless of type, make or origin will be supplied from this new facility.
The standard business model will be to supply spare parts on a next-day basis as standard with premium rates offered for timed next-day, same day and out-of-hours parts delivery services.
Whilst Brexit has brought its own logistical challenges with customs and movement of parts from Europe, Luke Maslin, Operations Director was adamant this was not the core reason for this initiative. Luke said “Coopers are known for their professional approach and experienced engineers – we have looked at ourselves and found that we are only as good as the logistical supply chain that delivers spare parts. We have decided it is too high a risk to depend on external factors, so we have opted for a policy of de-risk and to control our own flow”.
‘The Hub’ is expected to be ready in late-Spring this year with stock anticipated to start flowing by Summer 2021.
