Cooper Specialised Handling, the UK’s premier independent port handling equipment provider, is thrilled to announce the Sany H9 reachstacker has won its second industry award in as many years for the revolutionary energy recovery system that drastically reduces fuel consumption. The German based IFOY Special Vehicle Award 2020 follows-on from the FLTA Award for innovation won in 2019 and the latest award follows an intense inspection and validation of the product by the IFOY judges.
The IFOY AWARD (International Intralogistics and Forklift Truck of the Year) is an independent organisation. Its mission is to identify and recognise the year’s best intralogistics products and solutions as well as engage in activities in order to assess outstanding technical and strategic achievements in intralogistics as well as generate stimuli for innovation. The IFOY organisation has set itself the goal of establishing the IFOY AWARD as the definitive award for outstanding achievements and can draw on an international expert jury made up of well-known trade journalists who also represent the leading logistics media in various markets. The nomination and selection process for the IFOY Award makes high demands in terms of the safety, technology, sustainability, cost efficiency, design and ergonomics of equipment and solutions.
H9 is the product name that identifies the new range of Sany reachstackers that is the first time an energy recovery system has been installed on this type of equipment. Two rear mounted cylinders use the downward gravitational forces to charge gas-charged accumulators which, in turn, provide extra power over and above the available engine power for the next lift. The savings, at the time of launch were expected to save as much as 30% in fuel. However, whilst fuel saving is important, the extra available power means that the main lift cylinder diameters can be reduced resulting in greater visibility and faster lift speeds. H9 therefore is less expensive to run and is 15% more productive than machines without an energy recovery system. It’s size and weight also makes it the nimblest of all laden container reachstackers and has been hailed as” the most radical change in reachstacker technology for a generation.”
Speaking on behalf of Cooper SH, Sales Director, Chris Barnes said “The fact the IFOY jury came to the same conclusion as the FLTA judges some months earlier demonstrates consistency and a clear message that this technology is clearly ground-breaking.” Chris continued “We are undertaking some field trials currently which examines the performance of these machines to give real fuel numbers – suffice to say, whilst not yet concluded, they are truly outstanding and suggests the payback of the technology will be a lot shorter than we initially thought”
The IFOY awards were made with a digital presentation ceremony in light of the Covid-19 social distancing restrictions which prevented its usual lavish ceremony and celebrations.
